السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَ كَاتُهُ

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ إِنَّ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ نَحْمَدُهُ وَنَسْتَعِيْنُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَنَعُوْذُ باِللَّهِ مِنْ شُرُوْرِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمَنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَا لِنَا مَنْ يَهْدِى اللَّهُ فَلاَ مُضِلَّ لَهُ وَمِنْ يُضْلِلْهُ فَلَاهَادِىَ لَهُ , وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ وَعََلَي آلِهِ وصحبه اجمعين اما بعد

All praise are belong to Allah who has put the learnt on high rank, who eased the way to heaven to those who seek knowledge firmly, and ordered the angels to spread peace to the knowledge seeker.

May the blessing and peace of Allah be upon the messenger of Allah Muhammad SAW peace be upon him. His companions, his followers, his following followers till the of the judgement.

I don’t forget to say thank you to the master of this ceremony, for the chance given so that I am able to deliver a speech entitle with :

 “THE SUPERIORITY OF SEEKING KNOWLEDGE”

          Allah Says :

(Æìsùötƒ ª!$# tûïÏ%©!$# (#qãZtB#uä öNä3ZÏB tûïÏ%©!$#ur (#qè?ré& zOù=Ïèø9$# ;M»y_u‘yŠ 4 ª!$#ur $yJÎ/ tbqè=yJ÷ès? ׎Î7yz ÇÊÊÈ

“Allah will raise to high ranks those that have faith and knowledge among you. He is cognicant of all your actions” (QS. Al mujadilah : 11)

It’s clearly stated that Allah will raise to high ranks those who have knowledge clearly. Ibnu Mas’ud said : in this verse Allah praise those who have knowledge, and Allah raise to higher ranks those who have knowledge than who have faith but haven’t knowledge.

My brother, The caliph Sulaeman bin Abdul Malik once pick up his two sons and said : O my children, learn knowledge by you both, cause knowledge enable people whohas no position, wake the unconscious up, and raise a slave to the rank of kings. That’s true that the Caliph Sulaeman learnt to Atho’ bin rabah, whereas ‘Atho’ was an old man of Habsyi, with dark skin, quite curly hair, very flat nose, and when he was sitting he was like a black eagle.

Yet because of his strength to seek knowledge from Abu Hurairah, Abdullah bin Umair,Abdullah bin Abbas, Abdullah bin Zubair and other great companions -peace be upon them- till his heart was abundant with knowledge, fiqh, and tradition of Rasulullah p. b. u. h.

Knowledge is an invest which will give us profit eventhough we have already dead. Once Rasulullah p. b. u. h said :

إذَا مَاتَ ابْنُ آدَمَ انْقَطَعَ عَمَلُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ ثَلاَثٍ، صَدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ وَعِلْمٍ يَنْتَفِعُ بِهِ وَوَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُوْ لَهُ ( رواه مسلـم )

“If one dies, his action is stop, except three things :Jariyah charity, usefull knowledge and a good son that says prayers to his parent”.  (HR. Muslim)

Because of the high rank of those who have knowledge, Allah mention them after Himself and faithfull angels who keeps close to Him. Allah says :

“Allah bears witness that there is no god but Him, and so do the angels and men of learning. He is the executor of justice, the only God, the almighty, the wiser” (QS. Ali imran : 3)

Our need to knowledge, is on every single side of life. Cause each action of us has to be based on knowledge. In other word, all of our activities, have be guided by knowledge. Eating, Sleeping, Waking up, Da’wah, faith and social interaction, everything has to b based on knowledge.

Ahmad bin Hanbal said :

Our need to knowledge is more than food and drink, cause we eat twice or three times in a day is enough while every breath of us needs knowledge.

Honourable audience, one of the signs of a good servant is that he knows religious knowledge.

Brothers, no matter how we need science. It’s a public obligation. It means before accomplishing by some people the obligation is getting wider, touching any body. For example, If in a place there is a sick person who needs a surgeon, then a surgeon is a public obligation, to the villagers. And if the sick person dies, then the whole villagers bear the sin.

Let’s strengthen ourselves to seek religious and scientific knowledge. We commit a war against stupidity, as Islam a dynamic religion which is anti stupidity, cause stupidity sends to marginal group and astray.

Finally, I’d like to say sorry if there is lackness and mistake, and if there is truth, let’s accept it and practice it in our life. Amien
